International Mastocytosis & Mast Cell Diseases Awareness Day unites patients, advocates and the medical community to drive research, improve treatments and foster understanding.

About us
The International Mastocytosis & Mast Cell Diseases Awareness Day website brings together patients, caregivers and health care professionals from across the globe to raise awareness, share knowledge and inspire connection.
Our goal
Our
goal
is to foster a unified and multi-lingual channel of information from participating non-profit mast cell disease support and/or affiliated advocacy groups from around the world, which make up the Awareness Day Committee.
The first annual
awareness day
took place on 20 October 2018 and continues to take place annually on October 20. We welcome and encourage all nations to join in our efforts with sharing education, awareness and support tools that aid researchers and scientists to find a cure for mast cell diseases.
Our
logo
was intentionally crafted to include both “mastocytosis” and “mast cell diseases” in the same size font, for equal representation. The mast cell icon depicted has “receptors” and seems to be spilling its contents during degranulation. The color purple was chosen to represent the color of the stain that researchers use in their slides.
The
ribbon
has dots to represent the spots, hives, and/or rashes that many mast cell patients experience.

For the 2025 Awareness Day, our global “Be Informed, Be Connected” campaign helped bring trusted mast cell disease information to communities around the world. Solidarity with Ukraine
The International Mastocytosis and Mast Cell Diseases Awareness Day committee stands in solidarity with Ukraine and have developed a page to provide support information for Ukrainian patients with mastocytosis and mast cell diseases.
